Your provider recommends a path after the diagnostic interview. If a focused test can answer your question, you won't be asked to complete a full battery.
Full battery
For autism, ADHD, learning, language and developmental questions, or when several concerns overlap.
- A detailed history and forms from home, school and others
- 2 to 6 testing sessions of about 2 hours each
- Look-alike and co-occurring conditions ruled in or out
- A comprehensive report, usually 20 to 75 pages, and a feedback session
Focused diagnostic testing
For a narrower question, such as anxiety, depression or a personality disorder, when one test or a few can answer it.
- A diagnostic interview to define the question
- One or a few targeted measures
- Generally shorter, less intensive and less expensive
- A written summary with treatment recommendations

A brief screening can tell you whether a closer look is a good idea. A full battery is that closer look. It's one of two testing paths at Fair Winds, and it's the one used for autism, ADHD, learning and developmental questions.

We accept most major insurance for initial evaluations and counseling. Testing is self-pay, so insurance limits never decide which tests your evaluation can include. We accept cash and all major credit cards, and CareCredit financing is available.

We evaluate people from 12 months old through adulthood, using tools chosen for each age group. Autism testing can begin at 12 months and ADHD testing at 24 months.
How long does a full evaluation take?
Most comprehensive evaluations include 2 to 6 testing sessions of about 2 hours each, plus forms from home and school, report writing and a feedback session.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Our board-certified telemental health providers offer secure video counseling across Texas.
