Telehealth counseling across Texas

Secure video sessions with a licensed therapist, wherever you are in Texas. Same care, different room.

How it works

You meet with your therapist by secure video at a scheduled time. Sessions are usually 50 minutes. We use a platform designed for health care, not a social app.

Before your first session, we confirm your identity, location and consent. You will need to be physically in Texas for the session to proceed.

Request an appointment

Opens our SimplePractice patient portal in a new tab.

What you need

  • A private, quiet space
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone
  • Headphones if they help you focus or keep things private
  • A backup phone number in case the video drops

If you are driving, in a public place or unable to speak privately, we will reschedule.

Who it is for

Individual, couples and family counseling for teens and adults. Telehealth can be a good fit for busy schedules, travel, transportation limits or comfort at home.

Who it is not for

Most standardized testing requires an in-person visit. If you are in crisis or need emergency care, call 911 or 988.

Insurance

Many plans cover telehealth counseling. Coverage and copays vary, so call us to confirm your benefits before the first session.

Privacy and location

We follow the same confidentiality rules as in-person care. You are responsible for choosing a private location and using a secure connection. We will confirm your physical location at the start of each session.

Texas licensure means we cannot provide telehealth to clients located outside Texas. This applies even if you are traveling temporarily.

Getting started

  1. 1. Call 817-735-4165 or request an appointment in the portal.
  2. 2. We confirm insurance, location and consent.
  3. 3. You receive a secure link before the session.
  4. 4. Join a few minutes early from a private space.

Telehealth questions

Who can use telehealth?

Anyone physically located in Texas at the time of the session. Our providers are licensed in Texas and cannot see clients who are outside the state, even for a single session.

Is telehealth as effective as in person?

For many counseling concerns, secure video is comparable to in-person care. Some situations, such as certain assessments or safety concerns, may be better served in person. We will tell you if that applies.

What do I need for a session?

A private space, a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a way to keep the conversation confidential. Headphones can help.

Is it private?

We use a secure video platform and follow the same confidentiality rules as in-person care. You are responsible for choosing a private location and using a secure connection.

Does insurance cover telehealth?

Many plans cover telehealth counseling, but benefits vary. Call our office to confirm your coverage before the first session.

Can I do testing by telehealth?

Some intake and feedback visits can be done by video, but most standardized testing requires an in-person visit. Call us to ask what is possible for your evaluation.

What if the connection drops?

We will try to reconnect. If the session cannot continue, we will follow up by phone or reschedule. You will not be charged for time that could not be used.

Can I use telehealth from another state?

No. Providers are licensed in Texas, and the client must be physically in Texas during the session. This is a legal requirement, not a preference.

Prefer to meet from home?

Tell us what you're looking for and whether telehealth or an in-person visit fits better. We'll help you decide.
