Cookie policy
Effective November 2, 2026
This policy explains the cookies and browser storage used on www.fairwindsmentalhealth.com. It should be read with our Privacy policy.
What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small files a website places on your device. They can remember a choice, keep a session working or help a site measure how it is used. Browser storage, such as localStorage, works in a similar way but stays in your browser rather than being sent with every request.
Our approach
- We do not use advertising, retargeting, social media or cross-site tracking cookies.
- We use one optional category: analytics.
- Analytics is off until you choose Allow analytics.
- Essential storage keeps the site secure and remembers your choice.
What we use
Essential and preference
fw-consent(browser storage) — Fair Winds. Remembers whether you allowed or declined analytics. Up to 12 months.__cf_bm— Cloudflare. Helps distinguish people from automated traffic and protect the site. Up to 30 minutes, when set.- Cloudflare Turnstile security storage — Cloudflare. Spam protection when the website contact form is enabled. Short-lived.
Analytics — optional
_ga— Google Analytics. Distinguishes visitors so we can count visits. Up to 2 years._ga_*— Google Analytics. Keeps session and measurement state. Up to 2 years._gid— Google Analytics. Distinguishes visitors for a short period. Up to 24 hours.
When the website contact form is enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile may use short-lived security cookies or browser storage to check that a submission is genuine.
Third-party sites
Some links take you to services that set their own cookies after you leave our site:
- SimplePractice for the patient portal, scheduling, intake, secure messaging and billing.
- Helcim for quick-pay card payments.
- CareCredit for financing and the optional payment calculator.
- Google Maps when you open directions.
- Facebook when you visit our page.
Those services have their own cookie and privacy policies. We do not control their cookies.
Google Analytics
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 helps us understand which pages are useful and how people find the site. We:
- Disable Google signals and ad personalization.
- Deny advertising storage.
- Do not send names, phone numbers, email addresses or health information to Google Analytics.
- Use the information in aggregate, not to identify individual visitors.
If you decline, Google Analytics does not load.
Your choices
- Use Allow analytics or No thanks in the banner.
- Change your choice at any time with Privacy choices at the bottom of every page.
- Your choice is stored in your browser for up to 12 months.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a “no.”
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site from working.
Because there is no consistent legal standard for “Do Not Track” signals, we do not change behavior based on DNT. Analytics remains off unless you actively allow it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if we add or remove a service. We will post the new effective date at the top of this page and, where required, ask for consent again.
