Early childhood assessment
For parents of children from 12 to 36 months who are wondering about communication, play, movement or connection.
Why evaluate so early?
Early support can change the path. A toddler's brain is growing quickly, and small changes in communication, play and routine can make a big difference.
An evaluation does not label a child for life. It helps you understand what is developing typically, what needs support and what to do next.
Call 817-735-4165What parents notice
- Limited eye contact or shared attention
- Few words, gestures or sounds for their age
- Not responding to their name
- Repetitive play or strong reactions to change
- Sensory sensitivities or feeding and sleep struggles
- A feeling that something is different, even without a specific concern
What we look at
Communication, play, social connection, movement, sensory responses, daily routines and developmental history.
How it works
A parent interview, observation and play-based activities. Young children do not need to sit for a formal test.
What you leave with
A clear explanation, practical next steps and a written report you can share with your pediatrician, ECI or school.
Early Childhood Intervention
Texas ECI serves children from birth to age 3 and can provide therapy and service coordination, often at low or no cost. You can use ECI and a private evaluation at the same time.
Read the ECI guideWhat to bring
